VALORFIT

Veterans helping veterans rebuild their life through fitness

A band of veterans believing self-worth is never left on the battlefield.

We are a team of veterans who believe self-worth shouldn’t be left on the battlefield.

We want to re-engage and ignite a renewed confidence in veterans through fitness.

YOU ARE MUCH STRONGER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE!

Yes, fitness builds strength, but being surrounded by like-minded strong veterans builds something even more important, confidence and pride in self.

We exist to build your strength, re-engage your confidence, and re-ignite your passion for life.

Founder's Story

President and Founder Troy Peterson is an Army Veteran who served from 2001 to 2006 with the First Cavalry Division as a Cannon Crewmember.

He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II where he received the Purple Heart Medal.

After returning home from Iraq in March of 2005 Troy became an alcoholic. He used alcohol to deal with the loss of his friends and to combat his PTSD and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 2006 Troy became a drug addicted alcoholic. For 9 years Troy hid his drug addiction from everyone. On July 30, 2015, Troy attempted to overdose. When Troy woke up he felt guilty and knew he needed a change, so he walked into CrossFit Waukee, where his life would be changed forever.

The owner of CrossFit Waukee, Reggie Hoegh, immediately took Troy under his wing. Troy began to attend classes 5 days a week, and Reggie created a personalized meal plan to help Troy begin to lose weight. Troy not only started losing weight but he started gaining his confidence back after years of self-destructive behavior. A bond between two completely different people was created, and Troy began to open up about his personal struggles. Not only did people within the CrossFit community wrap their arms around Troy, people outside of that community did as well.

Troy decided he wanted to give back. He has made it his mission to positively influence as many people as he can in hopes of getting Veteran’s and their families an understanding of their self-worth. ValorFit is one way he will do accomplish his purpose.

WHAT WE DO

Change doesn’t happen on your own.

Finding a team and surrounding yourself with positive influences is how we gain our confidence.

We want to help Veteran’s and their families get back in the fight by pairing Veteran’s with other Veteran’s in local gyms and with other members.

We want to facilitate long lasting relationships that place Veteran’s and their families in a position to succeed.
